Would allow at add images to media playback in linux. Also progress and other meta infos could be shown.

I see it would also add support for media buttons, something I've been missing myself? Two birds with one stone, although only on Linux.

I think I could implement it in some free time - the package interface seems simple enough - but if it's not gonna get merged due to OS limitation, there's no point, is there?
